last weekend - finally!

Last weekend we went the this historic farm near my Mom's house. Given that I grew up there, I have never set foot in that farm until last weekend. I thought it was just a big nature walk place that has a pumpkin patch each October.

Boy, was I in for a surprise!

They didn't even have a pumpkin patch!

They had animals...

And a huge field of corn... for harvesting.
They invited people to help harvest their corn and you get to keep some to take home.

You get handed a sack by some ladies all dressed up like pilgrims .... (sorry, we were so excited we forgot to take pictures of them.)

You walk down this HUGE dirt path surrounded by lots and lots of corn. There were indian corns on one side and popcorn on the other.

So since we weren't prepared with gloves, we didn't allow Ash to harvest. Thost husks really cuts, we saw so many with bloody hands at the medic station.
(again, we were so excited in harvesting, we didn't take any pictures of us doing it!)

Ash was so excited and she insisted on carrying the huge sack by herself... or at least she tried.

How many corn should we take home, Ash?

Here are the ones we kept and now proudly displayed at home....

"What?"

Did I let you down? Did I build up too much over this week on this?

It's not like we went sky diving, but we had lots of fun and Ash learned more about Fall!

Those weekends when it's not a huge thing, just a fun family outing, are so beautiful. Glad you all had a great time. Have fun on your vacation!
